This aloo matar is a simple curry made of potatoes and fresh peas in a spicy onion tomato gravy served with phulkas or rice.
Serves: 3
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup green peas
1 medium size potato
2 tomatoes
1 onion
1/2 tsp chilly pd
1/4 tsp turmeric pd
1tsp ginger garlic paste
3/4 tsp Salt or to taste
1 tsp coriander pd
2 tbsp oil
1 cup water
METHOD
Peel green peas.
Chop onion and tomatoes.
Cut potato into cubes
In a frying pan add 1 tbsp oil and fry onions till transparent.
Add chopped tomatoes cover with a lid and cook for 10 min till tomatoes become soft.
Cool and blend in the grinder.
Heat oil in the frying pan add ginger garlic paste fry a little then add chilly pd, turmeric pd and coriander pd roast it.
Finally add tomato puree and cook till it dries completely .
Add peas and potato cubes and mix it well.
Add water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
Open the cooker and check if it is done add more water and salt if needed to make it a semi thick gravy.
Cook for 5 min and then transfer into a serving dish.
Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve with phulkas / paratha / rice.
