ALOO MATAR GRAVY

This aloo matar is a simple curry made of potatoes and fresh peas in a spicy onion tomato gravy served with phulkas or rice.


Serves: 3


INGREDIENTS


  • 1/4 cup green peas

  • 1 medium size potato

  • 2 tomatoes

  • 1 onion

  • 1/2 tsp chilly pd

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric pd

  • 1tsp ginger garlic paste

  • 3/4 tsp Salt or to taste

  • 1 tsp coriander pd

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 cup water


METHOD


  1. Peel green peas.

  2. Chop onion and tomatoes.

  3. Cut potato into cubes

  4. In a frying pan add 1 tbsp oil and fry onions till transparent.

  5. Add chopped tomatoes cover with a lid and cook for 10 min till tomatoes become soft.

  6. Cool and blend in the grinder.

  7. Heat oil in the frying pan add ginger garlic paste fry a little then add chilly pd, turmeric pd and coriander pd roast it.

  8. Finally add tomato puree and cook till it dries completely .

  9. Add peas and potato cubes and mix it well.

  10. Add water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.

  11. Open the cooker and check if it is done add more water and salt if needed to make it a semi thick gravy.

  12. Cook for 5 min and then transfer into a serving dish.

  13. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.

  14. Serve with phulkas / paratha / rice.
