Strata is a layered casserole dish made from a mixture of bread, eggs, cheese, vegetable and chicken sauce. We can also call it as savoury bread pudding.

INGREDIENT
1/2 kg chicken
10 French beans
1 medium size carrot
200 gms green peas
1 capsicum
1/4 tsp chilly pd
1 tsp black peopper
1 onion
Mozarella cheese
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
6 - 8 slices of bread
2 Eggs
2 cups milk
2 tbsp butter
2 cups water
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp Soya sauce
2 tbsp Tomato sauce
2 tbsp Wheat flour / cornflour
METHOD
Pressure cook chicken, pepper and salt with 2 cups of water for 10 min
Shred the chicken and separate the stock.
Slice carrots.
Chop beans into 1 inch pieces.
Peel green peas.
Chop onion fine.
Heat oil fry onions till transparent.
Add beans, carrots, green peas and sautee them.
Add shredded chicken and fry a little.
Add chilly pd, tomato sauce and soya sauce.
Add wheat flour / cornflour to the stock.
Pour this stock over the vegetable and chicken mixture and keep on stirring till you get a slightly thick sauce.
In a small bowl, combine eggs and milk.
Cut bread into small cubes.
Grease a baking dish spread half the bread cubes into the base of a baking dish.
Pour over half the egg mixture try to cover all the bread evenly.
Top with the remaining bread cubes.
Pour over the remaining egg mixture.
Squish the bread down to help the egg mixture to be soaked up evenly.
Pour all of the chicken and vegetable sauce.
Spinkle grated mozzarella cheese and top with some blobs of butter or drizzle some olive oil.
Bake in an oven on the midddle rack at 200 c for about 30 min or till done.
Serve hot as a complete meal and enjoy.
