DRUMSTICK / MORINGA DAL

Drumstick / Moringa dal is a delicious and tangy gravy recipe which is prepared using lentil, tomatoes, spices and drumsticks. It is served with steamed rice.



INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup daal

  • 1 tsp jeera

  • 1/4 tsp methi seeds

  • 6-7 Garlic cloves

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric pd

  • 1/2 tsp Chilly pd

  • 3-4 Tomatoes

  • 2 drumstick

  • Corriander leaves

  • Curry leaves

  • Little Tamarind (optional )

  • 2 cups water


METHOD


  1. Soak tuvar/arhar daal for 30 min.

  2. Pressure cook daal with water, tomatoes, garlic, turmeric pd, chilly pd, jeera , methi seeds, few curry leaves and corriander leaves for 20 min.

  3. Pass the daal through a strainer or mash it up in a pan.

  4. Heat oil in the pressure cooker and saute drumsticks with salt and turmeric pd and steam it for just 1 or 2 whistle.

  5. Add it to the daal adjust the constistency by adding more water, tamarind pulp.

  6. Bring it to a boil and keep aside.

  7. Heat oil ad mustard seeds, 1 crushed garlic, few methi seeds, jeera , whole red chillies, curry leaves and chopped onion

  8. Fry well till onion turns brown.

  9. Add this seasoning to the daal.

  10. Serve with steamed rice
