Drumstick / Moringa dal is a delicious and tangy gravy recipe which is prepared using lentil, tomatoes, spices and drumsticks. It is served with steamed rice.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup daal
1 tsp jeera
1/4 tsp methi seeds
6-7 Garlic cloves
1/2 tsp Turmeric pd
1/2 tsp Chilly pd
3-4 Tomatoes
2 drumstick
Corriander leaves
Curry leaves
Little Tamarind (optional )
2 cups water
METHOD
Soak tuvar/arhar daal for 30 min.
Pressure cook daal with water, tomatoes, garlic, turmeric pd, chilly pd, jeera , methi seeds, few curry leaves and corriander leaves for 20 min.
Pass the daal through a strainer or mash it up in a pan.
Heat oil in the pressure cooker and saute drumsticks with salt and turmeric pd and steam it for just 1 or 2 whistle.
Add it to the daal adjust the constistency by adding more water, tamarind pulp.
Bring it to a boil and keep aside.
Heat oil ad mustard seeds, 1 crushed garlic, few methi seeds, jeera , whole red chillies, curry leaves and chopped onion
Fry well till onion turns brown.
Add this seasoning to the daal.
Serve with steamed rice
