MOONG DAL

This a dry dish made with moong dal, tomato, onion and spices. This is served with chapati or rice and tomato chaar.




INGREDIENTS


  • 1/2 cup moong dal

  • 1 Tomato

  • 1 Onion

  • 1/2 tsp Chilly  pd

  • 1/4 Turmeric Pd

  • 1/2 Salt

  • Small piece ginger

  • Curry leaves

  • Coriander  leaves

  • 2 tbsp Oil

  • 1 cup water


METHOD


  1. Golden fry finely chopped onions and keep aside.

  2. Heat oil add jeera seeds.

  3. Add grated or finely chopped ginger.

  4. Curry leaves and roughly chopped tomato.

  5. Saute well till tomato becomes soft.

  6. Add Turmeric and chilly pd.

  7. Add moong dal, salt and water.

  8. Cover the pan with the lid cook on low heat.

  9. Stir in between just to check if it is done.

  10. Cook till the dal is well cooked but remains whole and not mushy.

  11. Dry if any extra water is there in the pan.

  12. Remove and transfer into a serving bowl.

  13. Garnish with chopped coriander and golden fried onions.

  14. Serve as a side dish with rice and tomato chaar.
