UDDINA VADA

Vada is usually made in a doughnut shape, with a crispy exterior and soft interior. It is generally eaten as a breakfast or a snack.





INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups Whole urad dal

  • 1 Onion

  • A small piece of ginger.1 tsp jeera

  • 1 tsp salt or to taste

  • A pinch of baking soda

  • Curry leaves

  • Green chillies

  • Oil

  • Water


METHOD

  1. Wash and soak whole urad dal in enough water overnight.

  2. Grind into a fine paste in the mixer.

  3. It should be thick and not runny mixture.

  4. Add jeera, salt, chopped onion, green chillies, coriander leaves, curry leaves and ginger into the batter and pulse the mixer once, so that it gets mixed with the batter.

  5. Remove the mixture in a bowl.

  6. Add baking soda and mix well.

  7. Heat oil in a wok or kadai

  8. Put the thick batter on your wet palm and make a hole and transfer it into the oil

  9. Golden fry them on medium heat and drain them well in a perforated dish.

  10. Serve hot with coconut chutney.

NOTE:

You can use a wet rolling pin to make holes after putting a blob of the mixture in the oil.
