Wheat grass is the freshly sprouted first leaf of the common wheat plant, used as a food, drink, or dietary supplement. Wheat grass is served in powder form or fresh juice.
BENEFITS OF WHEAT GRASS
Wheatgrass is a source of potassium, dietary fiber, vitamins, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium. Fresh wheatgrass juice is considered to be a living food.

HOW TO GROW WHEAT GRASS AT HOME ?
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Organic wheatgrass seeds
Cocopeat
Vermicompost optional
Plastic tray / throwaway containers with holes
PRE GERMINATION
Clean and wash wheat seeds.
Soak the seeds in a bowl of water for 24 hrs
Cover the container with a dishcloth.
After 24 hours, drain the water and repeat the same soaking process.
Drain excess water.
Wrap them in a moist paper towel and store in a airtight box for a day till it sprouts.
PREPARATION OF THE TRAY
Make holes in your tray / container.
Fill the tray half with a mixture of cocopeat and light vermicompost.
PLANTING
Arrange the sprouted seeds evenly on the plastic tray
Place the seed tray in a place that has indirect light and good ventilation.
When placing your seeds on the tray, leave a gap between the seeds for good ventilation.
Cover with a thin layer of cocopeat.
Sprinkle water.
Do not water your shoots too much.
Try to water your shoots from the bottom by placing a collector tray without holes under the wheat grass tray. Make sure there is water in this collection tray and only lightly spray the top of the shoots.
Place it outdoor under shade.
HARVESTING
Wheat grass should reach 15 cm by day 9 or 10. By that time, it will be ready for harvesting.
Use sharp and clean scissors to harvest your wheat grass.
You can start watering again for a second and a third harvest.
WHEAT GRASS JUICE
Harvest about a handful of wheat grass with a clean scissors.
Wash thoroughly with clean water 2 - 3 times and drain the water.
Chop the grass into small pieces.
Pass the grass along with 1/ 4 cup water into the juice extractor / blender / pound it and squeeze the juice.
Strain the juice and pour it in a shot glass.
Consume the wheat grass shot immediately to preserve all the nutrients.
NOTE
When taking wheatgrass juice for the first time, begin with a small dose and gradually increase your intake to meet the recommended dose. This will help to get your body adjust to digesting wheatgrass.
A typical liquid dose is anywhere from 1 to 2 tbsp of pure juice. Drinking a cup of water after taking wheatgrass can help reduce your risk for side effects.
People with kidney problems must avoid this juice as it is high in potassium.
Wheat grass can also be grown in water hydroponically.
