Dal gosht is a combination of toor / chana lentils, spices,
mutton / lamb, onions and tomatoes. The dal gosht is very tasty and it goes well with rice or rotis.
Serves: 6 - 8
INGREDIENTS
1 kg Mutton / lamb
1 cup Toor dal / chana dal / combination
1 tsp chilly pd
2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
2 Onions
1 tsp Jeera
1/4 Methi seeds
2 Cardamoms
3 Cloves
Small piece of cinnamon / powder
1/2 tsp turmeric pd
2 tsp coriander pd
6 Tomatoes
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
2 whole red chillies
METHOD
Soak the lentils in cold water for 15 min if using toor dal. If using chana dal then you need to soak it for 1-2 hrs . Drain, rinse and set aside.
Pressure cook mutton and dal together with turmeric, methi, jeera and ginger garlic paste. Avoid salt here.
Puree tomatoes, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon in a blender.
Heat oil fry chopped onions add chilly pd, coriander pd, turmeric pd and salt.
Add tomato puree and roast well till oil separates.
Add mutton and dal mixture and bring it to a boil.
Heat oil add mustard seeds curry leaves whole red chilies, coriander leaves.
Add this seasoning to the dal gosht.
Serve hot with chapati / rice.
