PRAWNS IN GREEN MASALA

Prawns cooked in a coriander, chilly paste adds a different flavour to the prawns, making it a delicious side dish.

Serves: 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 gms shelled, deveined, cleaned,jumbo/large prawns marinated with1/4 tsp salt.

  • (1 large onion chopped

  • 1 small tomato

  • 2-3 green chillies or to taste

  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger paste

  • 3/4 tsp garlic paste.

  • 1 cup chopped coriander leaves. )

  • Grind all of the above to a paste.

  • 2-3 cloves, 2 green cardamoms, 1cinnamon, 6 peppercorns.

  • 1 tbsp coriander powder

  • I/2 tsp cumin powder

  • 1/4 tsp garam masala

  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste

  • 1 small onion chopped fine.

  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves for garnish.

  • 1/2 cup hot water.


METHOD


  1. Heat oil in a wok/ deep pan. Add the whole spices

  2. Add the finely chopped onion and fry to golden brown

  3. Add the ground green masala. Sauté for some time

  4. Add the coriander, cumin, pepper powder

  5. Add salt. Cook till the raw taste of the masala goes

  6. Add water and simmer till almost cooked.

  7. Add the prawns and cook for 5-7 mins. Do not over cook

  8. as the prawns will turn hard and chewy.

  9. Remove into a serving dish.

  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
